Tiff Lacey - Show Me The Way

Tiff Lacey - Show Me The Way

Release date: 14 December 2009
Cat number: TMCR002
Label: Time Circle Recordings

TRACKLIST:

Acoustic Mix
Ivan Spell Remix
Ivan Spell Dub Mix
Gabriel Lukosz Remix

The second release on Time Circle Recordings is a long-awaited single of one of the top-flight British vocalists — Tiff Lacey.

With just a piano accompaniment, the Acoustic mix offers the listener a rare treat, showcasing the sensuality of Tiff’s voice paired with her tremendous vocal execution. With its hypnotising vocals, haunting piano melodies and chilled-out mood, this mix will entice and draw you in.

Leaving behind any traces of simplicity and melancholy found in the Acoustic mix, American producer Gabriel Lucosz offers a perfect contrast in his bright and dynamic remix. This track abounds with synth pieces, and guitar riffs, but Lucosz has also seamlessly woven vocal chops and effects into the mix, with the end result being a colourful slice of progressive trance.

Well-known prog house producer Ivan Spell (Jee Productions) rounds up the pack with his remix and dub version as a bonus. Both mixes showcase all that is popular in progressive house today, infectious percussion and a deep atmospheric build up. Prog lovers will be delighted, for this remix really does it’s business.

Late Night Alumni - Light Reading

Late Night Alumni - Light Reading

Track 4 from the new Late Night Alumni album Of 'Birds, Bees, Butterflies, Etc'.

Late Night Alumni - Light Reading (Lyrics):

Some light reading, the last pages,
clearer now in certain places.
But you're hovering, half empty,
and I'm leaving, but you've left me.

Please just listen to reason,
these aren't chapters,
they're seasons.

I heard from a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend,
you've closed the book on your end.
If you pick up, pull out, does it have to be now?
I tear out those last few pages, less time; more places.

I've read all the way to the bitter end to the end.
You outlast your friends.
If you pick up, pull out,
does it have to be now?

Dash Berlin feat. Emma Hewitt - Waiting (Acoustic Version)

The latest Dash Berlin single is still taking the world by storm, fueling his rocket-ship ascent, which took him straight to the 105th position in the annual DJ Mag Pol. “Unbelievable!” says the humble Dutchman about the news; “this is more than I ever expected to happen so early in my career. My thanks goes out to all the fans that decided I was worth their precious vote this year”.

The collaboration with Australian born singer Emma Hewitt climbed all the way to number one on the global Trance charts. Both the original and the recent hype-filling ‘Dash Berlin 4AM Mix’ are finding their way into the sacred record bags of the world biggest tastemakers with the speed of light.

The pearl inside every great vocal Trance track is of course the song itself. When removing the epic wall of sound, with nothing left but vocals and an acoustic guitar, the naked song can reveal itself as a strong piece of genuine song writing.

Dash Berlin: “During the studio sessions with Emma and her brother Anthony we often used the guitar as the main instrument in the song writing process. It’s interesting to get away from the synthesizers and the beats in the first fragile moments of creating. In this way you can really focus on the song itself without being distracted by technology. Once the basic idea is finished you can get creative with the recorded vocals like you can when doing a remix. It’s that creative freedom that delivers new and exciting results”.

For those of you who are curious how that sounds, Dash recently created a video from an intimate acoustic version of ‘Waiting’.

Upcoming Vocal Track: Luke Terry feat. Tiff Lacey - The Last Farewell

Luke Terry feat. Tiff Lacey - The Last Farewell

Next up on Unearthed Red is Luke Terry's new single entitled The Last Farewell featuring the enchanting vocals of Tiff Lacey, or without if you prefer the instrumental versions! As we have came to expect from Luke this is another lush uplifting piece of trance. The track builds with some graceful plucks, subtle arpeggios and twisting acid lines, unleashing an epic pad during the breakdown and a mesmerising main hook.

First up on remix duties is the very much in form Ronski Speed. Ronski has ripped the track apart in his unique blend of uplifting techy pogressive trance. A driving bassdrum and solid bassline surge the track forward whilst an epic string section works its way in and continues into the breakdown. Ronski introduces a huge pad which takes centre stage after the breakdown, absolute euphoria.

Ultimate is next to strut his stuff. Dmitry's remix is a breathtaking melodic trance affair from the outset. With splendid plucks and unique melody twists the track builds to a dreamy beatific breakdown creating a huge sense of bliss. He introduces the main hook, tweaked to his own style, only then for another exquisite synth to rise up and complement it throughout the rest of the track.

Rounding up things is Trance Arts, and unless you have been living under a rock for the last year or so, you will know what you are in for now! A superb banging remix from our resident trance machine. Explosive from the start of the track, Torsten introduces his own build lead, delicately layered with vocal chops, acid noises, arpeggios and synth fills. The breakdown features a smooth guitar section complemented by some groovy breakbeat percussion before unleashing an absolute monster of a synth playing his interpretation of the main hook which builds up to an awe-inspiring climax and stupendous main section.

Rex Mundi feat. Susana - Nothing At All (Official Music Video):

Rex Mundi feat. Susana - Nothing At All (Official Music Video)

It's guaranteed. 'Nothing At All' won't leave your mind anytime soon. A dark, progressive Coldharbour track that moves you, and lingers for a long time to go. And we're not just talking about body movement here. 'Nothing At All' puts you to thoughts, and won't put you back to reality until the very last beat has faded.

It's the excellent producing work of Boy Hageman, aka Rex Mundi, and the strong voice of Susana that fused into this speaker shattering beauty. Rex Mundi, known for his solid 'Perspective' , ' Passage in Time' and 'Leaving Paradise', managed to build a heavy weight, moody progressive track with a powerful break, while Susana gave her best to make the vocals carry the track to a higher level. 'Nothing At All' has already been causing quite a stir on Markus Schulz' 'Toronto ' 09' compilation and playlisted by the big DJ's around, and will surely continue to do so after its release.

For the remix-matters, Beat Service, Elevation and Funabashi were called in. Estonian producer Madis Sillamo, residing under the Beat Service moniker, gave a completely different feel to 'Nothing At All'. Remarkably uplifting and housy in the build-up and moody progressive on the breaks, his remix couldn't be more different from the original, in a good way.
American producer Mike Targanski, aka Elevation, made all of 'Nothing At All' big room fit, with a strong, Coldharbour sounding remix. And last but not least, the Funabashi gentlemen reworked the track to an outstanding, trancier-than-trancy remix.

Interview: Julie Thompson

Norwich born and bred Julie already knew she had music running through her veins at a young age. Upon reaching her 14th birthday, young Julie began singing, writing songs and playing the piano, and rapidly taught herself the art of singing and songwriting. To get a better shot at making a living from music, Julie moved to London to follow her dream of being a part of the exciting circus named ‘the music industry’.

After meeting up with London producer James Holden, who already had gained substantial fame for his instantly-recognizable ethereal progressive house style, this dream soon became reality. As Holden & Thompson they produced the instant classic ‘Nothing’ in 2003, released on Fatboy Slim’s imprint Loaded/Skint; hard evidence proving the UK had given birth to yet another fantastic top liner. ‘Nothing’ found its way onto an impressive pile of compilations like Global Underground (mixed by Deep Dish), Politics of Dancing (mixed by Paul van Dyk), Gatecrasher Immortal (mixed by Matt Hardwick), Spundae (mixed by Ferry Corsten), A State of Trance and many more. The rest is history.

Lyrics Of The Week: Strange Love

Gemini's Edge - Strange Love (Lyrics)

Always afraid to leave what's familiar
Don't stop to think
Not for a second
Always hesitant to open the door
For new emotions
Rushing to shore

Life's tragedies won't keep me
I'll walk the long road
We all crave that love
We all have that desire
Don't stifle your emotions
This strange strange love
Keeps calling me

Always harder to see through temptation
(to see through temptation)
Don't wanna wait
Not for a minute
(Not for a minute)
Always wanting to have something more
(To have something more)
These new emotions
(New emotions)
Falling away away away
(Falling away(
That these emotions are life
That these emotions are life

Life's tragedies won't keep me
I'll walk the long road
We all crave that love
We all have that desire
Don't stifle your emotions
This strange strange love
Keeps calling me

Behind The Voice: Meredith Call

Meredith Call

She's been the voice in our heads ever since the first time 'Deep Down' touched our ears. "They say..they say.." and we were lost. It's the melancholic, clear tone of vocalist Meredith Call that made us fall in love with the new Josh Gabriel project, Winter Kills. Expectations for this deep, vocal project are high and with a complete album in the making, all faces rest a gaze on this lovely lady. Time to get to know her a bit and see what way she's heading. We're pretty sure it's not the wrong way down...

Tiff Lacey Brings Magic To Dance Music: Radio KUL Guesthost + Interview

UK’s Tiff Lacey has been the voice behind some of dance music’s biggest records. It’s likely that she unknowingly shaped vocal trance into the form it is today, inspiring a generation of artistes, producers, and singers who gave this genre the credit, depth and respect it deserves. Her lyrics and vocals are always sought after by not only the world’s top hitmakers but also bedroom producers who dream of an opportunity to create music with her. Everyone has a favourite Tiff Lacey record, and every dance music enthusiast can tell us a place and time they’ve heard a Tiff Lacey record and fell in love with it. Artist Of The Week: Winter Kills

Winter Kills
Describing the career of one of the major innovators of today's dance scene can't be condensed into one page. Josh Gabriel lives, breathes and loves music, and has been at it for twenty-five years. He has spent a quarter of a century studying and discovering the different sides of music and its technology, digging deep into the core of music making. Well prepared and trained, Josh Gabriel rose to international fame as part of the Gabriel & Dresden duo, winning seven industry awards for production, songwriting and dj'ing, as well as achieving numerous sky-high chart positions. Magical productions, unforgettable collaborations and number one remixes were part of Gabriel's daily life. In 2008, it was time to let the individual soul run free and start a solo career.

The first highlight on Gabriel's new path to success was the founding of his own label, Different Pieces. Another significant milestone was the release of his solo album, 'Eight', which also includes his 'Tone Program EP', a rousing tech-house track that marked a new chapter in his career. Josh has been enjoying his unrestricted freedom of styles and proves to be more than comfortable in this roll with a new project: Winter Kills.

Teaming up with singer Meredith Call, he once again shows what he's made of on 'Deep Down'. A myriad of deep bass and a maze of intricate melodic spins make 'Deep Down' a well-thought-out gem of a track. Meredith's vocals and cleverly constructed lyrics take some time to get to know and put a spell on any music lover's ears and mind. 'Deep Down' added an extra emotional tone to Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance 2009 compilation, featured on the first CD. 'Deep Down' is another groundbreaking production to be added to the Josh Gabriel realm of music.

Experience The Bliss of Lo-Fi Sugar: On Radio KUL

Join Lo-Fi Sugar as she guesthosts Radio KUL 108 with Simon Lee and Alvin. The show will also feature a guestmix from First State. Airs Friday, 16th October 2009 at http://www.simonleeandalvin.com/.

This week on Radio KUL, experience the wonder and magic of Heather Pollock aka Lo-Fi Sugar.

Already a star in her own right after being featured on Starchaser’s “So High,” 2009 has been an amazing year for this singer songwriter of 10 years. She collaborated with John O’Callaghan on “Never Fade Away,” the title track of his artiste album, which propelled her instantly to worldwide recognition and has gone on to potentially score the the dance anthem of this year. Now, she has crafted her new album Quadrilogy, a eclectic mix of traditional and electronic music.

It’s no surprise to us that Lo-Fi Sugar’s music reaches far and wide as many fans find themselves immersed in her lyrics and depth. She has invoked responses from people around the world who have fallen in love and formed a personal connection with her music.

Heather has worked with Paul van Dyk and Kuffdam, among many others, and together with musical partners Jean Marc Brissat and Cosmo Jones, she has developed a solid formation that creates a unique connection unique through Lo-Fi Sugar. Despite all this, she tells us her journey up to this point have been a contribution of coincidences and “pure serendipity.”

Putting together a guesthost episode of Radio KUL is always a challenge for us. We can only hope we do justice to our special host by picking the right tracks from the discography and providing our guest enough opportunity to focus on the making of each track. We’re figures behind the decks, and our guesthost is the star of the night, providing vocals and reaching out to the audience. We want to bridge a connection between our featured artiste and you. Our hope is that wherever you tune in, we’ll transport you for the short time we have with you (perhaps even distract you), invoke some reactions (the kind that makes your heart skip a beat or gives you goosebumps), and bring upon some self discovery. That, and some really fantastic music.

We’re overjoyed to tell you that after many weeks, we’ve crafted an excellent edition of the show this week as Lo-Fi Sugar wonderfully perfected all the bits and pieces. So we absolutely cannot wait for you to listen to this week’s episode as Lo-Fi Sugar takes centerstage and travels with you on a journey of blissful beats and vocal magic during our 2 hour exclusive. It’s definitely a highlight for us.

Meanwhile, we had some time to speak with her and get some questions across for this Radio KUL Extra interview.
